The Hawaiian island of Oahu is about to make a huge progress in the alternative energy field compared to the rest of the country, regarding the creation of a new era for energy infrastructure and environmentally-friendly transportation.
A Canadian company plans to begin construction of a new industrial-sized plant that will be capable to transform non-recyclable waste into biofuel. Dubbed Enerkem, the plant, located in Quebec, will be the world’s first and according to the company it will generate 10 million gallons of 5 percent ethanol-petrol blend a year.
In collaboration with ABB Group, a power grid supplier, GM will study how batteries that will have formerly powered Volt electric cars will get a second life, being capable to store energy generated by solar and wind power generators.
