You have SO many options when it comes to celebrating Earth Day 2009. It’s not going to be hard to come up with something cool.

You can actually take a few different approaches…
- Commit to a one day event.
- Commit to long-term change – i.e. rethink your lifestyle and green goals. Do they seem slim? Adjust them; make them stronger or more meaningful.
- Commit to taking 5 or more small green steps this year. Each small step adds up, and as you try out more and more smaller green steps it becomes a whole new way of living and thinking.
To get you started following are some basic ideas – nifty things to do on Earth Day 2009 (and beyond):
- Have your kids (or you) track your water use with the fun Down the Drain program.
- Go see the new Disneynature’s Earth movie premiering on Earth Day or rent a nice earth-minded flick.
- Find a fun Earth Day event - i.e. a fair, a conference, a show near you.
- Turn off the lights, the heat, gather your friends and family and head outdoors. Take a hike, observe nature, and appreciate what we still have.
- Throw out all your toxic household cleaners and make your own homemade green cleaners.
- Set up a better home recycling center and commit to recycling year round.
- Get involved with the Earth Day Groceries Project (grab the kids!).
- Invite five of your non-green pals to hang on Earth Day – see if you can get them on board with green living.
- Rethink your landscaping. Take some time to green your yard.
- Set a goal to buy at least five organic grocery items each time you shop.
- Get involved with greening your local college campus.
